What Daylio does well

Daylio is quick: a mood and a few activity icons, and you're done (daylio.net). The free version has no entry limit, and your entries stay on your phone unless you back them up (Daylio FAQ). It is a native phone app with reminders, goals and a "Year in Pixels".

How Well Lived is different

Daylio records moments; Well Lived records time. Because each entry has a start and an end, Well Lived can tell you how many hours went to work, people or rest, and rank activities by how they felt, weighted by the hours behind them. It also pulls in sleep and heart rate from a ring or watch, which Daylio doesn't.

When to choose Daylio

  • You want a free mood diary that takes seconds a day.
  • You want your entries to stay on your phone.

When to choose Well Lived

  • You want to know where your hours go, not only how you felt.
  • You wear an Oura ring, Pixel Watch or Fitbit and want it next to your day.
